CHANGE IN VIRGINIA NOTARY PUBLIC LAW – EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2007

Your Notary Registration Number must appear on all notary statements in order for your notarization to be valid. The new law specifies that when a seal is used that it must be sharp, legible, permanent and produce a photographically reproducible image.

We recommend Notaries use a Notary Seal Rubber Stamp to comply with the new law but embossing seals may still be used. If an embossing seal is used, the Notary will be required to darken the seal impression so that it will be photographically reproducible.

If you previously purchased an embossing seal from Mid-Atlantic Notary Supplies you can order a replacement seal insert only (Item 202a). Simply follow the instructions (which will be provided) to slide the new insert into your existing seal handle. It is recommended that you purchase an Inker (Item 208) to blacken your new raised seal insert impression.
